Easy Jack Blackjack

Easy Jack Blackjack is one of the latest Blackjack games offered at Harrah’s in Las Vegas. The game was created by Matthew Stream, a student of University of Nevada, while he was honing the rules of the game at the International Gaming Institute.

Easy Jack, as the name implies, can be seen as a simplified version of classic Blackjack. The main goal is to come closest to 11 instead of 21.  The concept won the top prize of $1,500 and was launched on June 21, 2017. It is currently on trial basis and if it gets the approval of Nevada Gaming Control Board, it could become a part of a regular offer at various land based, and hopefully online blackjack sites in 2018.

The game comes with 0.94% house edge. That’s definitely ok for a new and hyped game, but cannot compete with some of the highest payout blackjack variations.

Easy Jack Blackjack Rules

The game uses a single deck with 52 cards.  The difference is that the player gets only one card face-up, while the dealer gets one card face-down. The game starts when the player places an Easy Jack bet. If the player’s first card is an Ace, it is a Blackjack and the Easy Jack bet wins.

Basic Rules
Easy Jack Blackjack Payouts

  • A natural 11 pays 3:2.
  • Easy Jack allows no doubling down or splitting.
  • In case the player and the dealer tie, the wager pushes.
  • Just like the dealer, the player should hit on six or less. Otherwise, they should stand.

The optional Dealer Bust side bet is also available. See below.

Dealer Bust Side Bet

The game incorporates also a Dealer Bust side bet, similar to the one you saw in Bust it and Buster blackjack.

  • With the side bet the player predicts that the dealer will go over 11.
  • If the dealer busts with two cards, the player wins 3:1.
  • If the dealer draws more cards before a bust, the payout is bigger, up to impressive 500:1 when the dealer busts with 6 cards.

While the house edge of the game is 0.94%, the house edge of the Dealer Bust side bet is 9.51%. That’s common as all side bets have lower winning odds, but 9-10% is a bit too much.

Interface & Limits

This innovative Blackjack variant is at the moment available only at one land-based casino in Las Vegas and players can give it a try until the end of the year. It is played at a purple table accepting up to 6 players. The game is expected to attract beginners due to its easy rules.
